Beyond the Classroom

Assistant Teaching
Students ages 13 and up can become a non-paid intern assistant teacher. Assistant teachers are not teachers, but are helpers with in classes. If interested please speak to Miss Dody.

Performance Teams
Students of Dance Dimensions, ages 5 and up, will work together as they learn a routine, or two, to be performed at local retirement and/or rehabilitation facilities and possibly nursery schools. We work together to brighten the lives of those in our communities. Rehearsals will either be Friday’s or Saturday’s beginning in February, not necessarily every weekend, but most. Attendance is strongly encouraged, but not necessary for each rehearsal.  Contact the office for more information.

Private Lessons
Students of Dance Dimensions ages 7 and up who would like some extra class time, as well as performance time, can have a private lesson (solo), or a lesson with a friend or two (duet/trio) in the subject of their choice. In addition to their regular class(es) each dancer will have their own class time with an instructor. During class, they can work on strengthening their technique and learn a routine to be performed at our Showcase of Stars performance in May. Private lessons are held every other week beginning for 30 minutes (approximately 6 lessons). Time will be based on studio availability and we will try to accommodate family’s schedules. Friday and Saturdays could be the main class days, limited weekdays may also be available.

Recreational Competition Teams
In 2010 we began our Recreational Competition Teams for Dance Dimensions students. These teams are for the dancer that loves to perform, but cannot make the full commitment that the Competitive Teams require. There are no required classes during the season, however there are required choreography classes beginning in October and are every other weekend. Teams are formed each October. Please speak directly to Miss Dody for more information.

Competition Teams
Competitive Teams are offered for the more involved Dance Dimensions student. Each team has specific requirements. The competitive teams travel throughout New England and the Tri-State area competing in 5-6 competitions per season. Our team season begins after the recitals with mandatory classes in June and choreography week in August. Teams are formed each May/June. Please speak directly to Miss Dody for more information.

Danbury Music Centre's performance of "The Nutcracker"
Dance Dimensions students (ages 6 thru adults) and families have participated in the Danbury Music Centre’s Production of “The Nutcracker” for many, many years. As a student, Miss Dody danced many roles in the production, then as an adult participated as a party adult for 6 years, as well as Clara’s mother, Mrs. Staulbaum for 7 years. Over the last 12 years, to help give back to the production she loved as a student (and continues to love), Miss Dody and her husband, Herb, donate the Dance Dimensions studios for rehearsals, and costume fittings.

Community Events
Dance Dimensions students and families also participate in community events throughout the season. Students and families have participated in bottle and can drives for Unified Sports, dance shoe collections for the Anna Grace School, food collections for the Brookfield Food Pantry, collections for Relay for Life and Susan G. Komen Foundation, National Dance Week dance mob as well as many other events.
